Who are we

Founded in 1997 in the Netherlands, OrthoMetals is the world’s largest and most experienced company providing environment-friendly turnkey solutions to the collection and recycling of orthopedic implants and other metal remains from crematoria.

OrthoMetals was founded by Jan Gabriëls and Ruud Verberne. Jan Gabriëls is an active orthopedic surgeon, who has more than 25 years of experience in his field. Ruud Verberne is an expert in recycling and logistics with 30 years of experience. Since 2008, both sons of Jan Gabriëls have also been working for OrthoMetals after receiving their MBA degrees.

Operational in the Netherlands at first, OrthoMetals is now active in 13 European countries serving over 375 crematoria. Since 2006, OrthoMetals is providing metal recycling solutions in the USA.
